Board of Directors & Society Officers

 

President - Christine Arezzi

Christine is currently the Director, Continuing Education for Advocis, a not-for-profit association which provides education for professionals in the financial and insurance industry, as well as advocacy for the profession and networking opportunities through 40 chapters across Canada. She is responsible for the Continuing Education programs. Prior to joining Advocis, Christine worked as the National Manager, Training and Process Solutions for PPI, a Life Underwriter for RBC and also as a Living Benefits Sales Manager. She holds her Certificate in Adult Education, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and Associate, Customer Service (ACS) designation, as well as her FLMI, FALU, MFA-P, PFA designations and Life Insurance License.  She lives north of Toronto with her family on a small lavender farm. 

Co-Vice President and Education Chair - Tina Mashhadian

Tina is a motivated and goal orientated individual with 15 years of experience in the Reinsurance industry globally. She is a Consulting manager located in Toronto and provides project management leadership in agile projects that seek to improve the reinsurance/insurance procedures and transformation processes. Her consulting assignments involve collaboration with different stakeholders; including Actuarial, Data, Finance, Process, Control, and Policy to ensure achievement and delivery of best in class services. 

Currently, she is supporting a global reinsurer client with the implementation of the US GAAP LDTI { Long duration targeted improvements}. In the past, she assisted clients with the implementation and delivery of the IFRS17 project { International Financial Reporting Standard}. She also supported clients with various functions within operations; including reinsurance services consulting, data management, Audit, and Compliance. 

 

She obtained a Master of Actuarial Sciences and Bachelor of Statistics degrees and have FLMI, Risk Management, and Safe Agile certifications. She is also an active member of the RAPA committee. You can visit her LinkedIn account for further details:

Co-Vice President and Technology Chair - Tanaz Shaikh

Tanaz joined the insurance industry in 2012 and has 7 years of progressive experience in group benefits and life insurance. She held different positions in Underwriting, client servicing, sales support and investment research. She began her underwriting career in one of the leading insurance companies globally - MetLife. 

She holds a post-graduate in Business Administration, FLMI designation and Life License. She joined the LOMA Society of the GTA to connect with fellow insurance professionals and to keep a pulse on the GTA’s insurance industry. She enjoys volunteering and believes in giving back to the community.

Past President - Mathew Rondinone

Mathew is a Operations and Reporting Analyst for Foresters Financial. Having only joined the insurance industry in 2015, he completed his ACS and FLMI within 8 months, and went on to pursue the AIRC and ARA over the next year. Mathew has a thorough understanding of the operations involved in a multi-national insurance company with experience leading and working on cross functional projects. Mathew has always been committed to pursuing further education, and is currently in a Bachelor of Commerce degree program at Ryerson University. He is on track to complete the 4 year degree by 2019 by use of online and night classes. He is looking forward to growing the educational and networking capacity of the Society. 

Treasurer - Ashraf Shehab

Ash is currently a senior operations processor, policy and client services for La Capitale Financial Security, Ash began his career in one of the leading insurance companies globally “Allianz”, with over 8 years of international life and disability insurance industry experience, he held different positions on Sales, Sales Support, Agency Services, New Business, Brokerage support. This gave him the chance to become very knowledgeable of the industry. Ash has completed the FLMI level 1 and working towards ACS & ALMI.

He is pursuing his MBA Degree at Hult international business school.  Ash believes in the greater good and to give back to the community, he’s an active Lion member in the Streetsville Area of Mississauga.

Program Chair & Executive Coordinator - Jacqui Davis

Jacqui is currently a Senior Insurance Operations Analyst at Foresters Financial. She is responsible for supporting the various business units within Operations with system enhancements, projects, and analysis. Jacqui started her insurance career at Foresters 15 years ago as a Service Centre Representative, and since then has held progressive roles as a Case Manager, and Team Leader for the New Business and Contracting Teams.

Audit Chair - Afshin Moussavi

Afshin joined the insurance industry in 2003 and has 17 years of experience working in a wide range of positions.  He started off as a contract employee at Maritime Life working in groups benefits and investment products (for a short time) before accepting a full-time position as a benefits administrator. 

In 2006, he moved to Manulife Financial to work in licensing and compensation as a Senior Associate.  In 2009 an opportunity came up for work in a community-minded organization - Foresters Financial.  At Foresters, Afshin started by helping transition the Operations area from a paper-based to web-based platform for processing all incoming licensing, contracting and new business.  He then transitioned to a team leader role, leading both US and Canada new business and speciality teams. 

Most recently, he took a career leap and moved into internal auditing.  In 2016, when he heard that there was interest in restarting the LOMA Society of the GTA, he was one of the first to jump on board.  It is a great way to network within the industry, and build lasting, meaningful relationships.
